Welcome to Light of Hope United Methodist Church!

10.23.2007

As a nurturing Christian Community, we welcome everyone and seek to discover, worship and serve the living God.

Our worship style might be called, "Energetic Traditional." We sing our favorite hymns with enthusiasm, we pray written and free-form prayers with passion, and we engage the Word of God with warm hearts and critical minds. Most important of all, we hope you will join us on Sunday morning from 9:30am to about 10:50am because we believe that together, we may discover what great plans God has in store for our lives.

Pastor Anthony Tang

On a practical note, when preparing to attend worship with us, please know that you may come as you are. Our regulars will dress in many different ways on Sunday mornings; you will see dress shoes, flip flops, shorts, slacks, skirts/dresses, etc. Dress in a way that most helps or allows you to worship Christ. Also, no special books or materials are required, although some like to bring Bibles to follow along as the scripture is read. Our worship bulletins (i.e., our programs) are kept simple and informative so that you may easily follow along and participate in as much or as little as you feel comfortable doing.

However, there's more to Light of Hope than just Sundays. Four different regular study groups are starting up again (one for men, two for women, and one for women and men). There are social groups for adults, for families, for those who like crafts and for those who scrapbook. We support many different missions like the Chandler Christian food bank, Merrill Gardens senior care center, Improving Chandler Area Neighborhoods children/teen center, and Habitat for Humanity.

In addition, since we have moved into the Riggs Road corridor, we are excited about reaching out to the community and contributing to our neighborhood. October 28th's Trunk-or-Treat event for children and families is just the beginning. On November 3rd, we're opening our facility to those who want to learn CPR and First Aid. Do you know of other needs in our community that we may respond to?

Ultimately, we do what we do because we want to celebrate how blessed and grateful we are and how good God is. We hope you'll join us.

Blessings,

Pastor Anthony
