We are hiring a new Nursery Caretaker
for Sunday mornings. We are looking for someone who works and plays very
well with children, is patient and forgiving, and is or will be
certified in first aid and CPR. Applicants should anticipate being
fingerprinted for a background check.

Habitat for Humanity Build |

Our congregation is participating in a Habitat for
Humanity build in Apache Junction this year in partnership with several
other area churches. There are no special skills required for our
volunteers and Habitat supplies everything needed for the construction.
Breakfast and luncheon is provided. The project will create a home for a
young family of three children with a single mother. Our first
opportunity to participate will be Saturday, February 16. We have had a
number of people volunteer for this date. There will be additional dates
upcoming in late March and early April. If you would like to join

additional information. We’ll be setting up a carpool and look forward
to our congregation working together to bring the project to fruition.
Our next build date is April 5th as we are looking for 12 to 15 folks to
help us!

A basket full of sewing, knitting, and crocheting needs
is stationed near the door…have you peeked in yet? Here are some current
projects you could help with:
- Prayer Shawls 12-18 " wide, up to 70" long
- Can be made from fleece, or be crocheted or
knitted.
- Baby quilts 36 " by 36 " to 42" Boxes and bags
including blocks ready to assemble are available.
- Cotton and flannel fabric donations are always
appreciated.
- T-Shirt "Diapers" Needed are men’s used t-shirts
which will be transformed into diapers.
- Also Needed: Baby sleepers, onesies, booties,
bibs, sweaters & caps Size: newborn to 6 months.
All projects are "due" by the end of April, ’08.

Seekers Study Group |

The Seekers are studying a DVD
lecture series on the New Testament that draws on modern
biblical scholarship, recent archaeological discoveries and
careful literary analysis to trace the history of the New
Testament and the early Christian faith community. Seekers meet
every 2nd and fourth Monday. New participants are welcomed to join us in this
challenging and interesting study. For

Book Studies @ LOHUMC |

MENS’ GROUP - Currently planned
start date is March 2nd, Sunday, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Location
TBD. Book is "Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the
Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church," by N.T.
Wright. WOMENS’ GROUP -
The Tuesday morning group will study “The Miracles of
Jesus” beginning February 26th at 9:30 a.m. The lessons
will be watched on DVD then discussed. This is a fresh approach
and quite informative. Come join us. Due to the Lenten
Series, the Wednesday evening group will suspend meetings until
after Easter.

Children's Choir |

|
Six children came for the maiden voyage of our
Kid's Choir on Wednesday, February 13th. Great spirit was shown
and a good time was had by all. Keep us in your prayers folks!
Anyone interested in helping develop an enthusiastic love of
"church" music is invited to join me, Judy, and the
participating children aged 5 through 12 at Light of Hope from
now till the end of April. It's going to be great fun!
Practice is on Wednesday nights from 5:30-6:15 p.m. If
necessary, the rehearsal time can be altered to fit parent's
schedules.

Monday Morning Movers |

Join us on Monday mornings at 10am for the Monday
Morning Movers (as in "energetic and ambitious go-getters," and
as opposed to "those who move household items from one location
to another"). Weekly, we will gather together, share in a
devotional, pray for our congregation and the prayer list, and
then get things done (sending notes to members/visitors,
cleaning, arranging, maintenance, mailing advertisement, etc).
Coffee and tea will be provided, with--perhaps--the occasional
donut, fruit or small sandwich with the crust cut off. For more information, email

Senior Ministries At Merrill Gardens
Assisted Living |

You are invited to join us at 10:30 a.m., twice a
month on the second and fourth Thursdays, for a refreshing
one-hour of fun and enjoyment as we assist the residents at
Merrill Gardens. The residents are some of the most amazing and
interesting people from all walks of life. On the second
Thursday of each month we do minor mending for the residents…and
no, you do not need to be a seamstress. The fourth Thursday of
the month is craft time with the residents. Their Activity
Director has planned the craft, and it is not necessary to be an
artist or crafty person to assist them.
